  • 7 hours per week (the post-holder will agree a work schedule with their line manager)

    £5,460 per annum (£27,300 F/T equivalent), plus employer pension contributions at 9%. The post is supported by grant funding for 2 years; therefore, this is a 2-year fixed term post, however it may be extended if further funding becomes available.

    The hours and scope of this role may increase to accommodate working at our second Saints location in Bar Pool. This is subject to review.

    ​

    The Role of Youth Worker  

    ​

    This post holder will work at our Saints Central location in Nuneaton, whilst also partnering with local parish church St Nicolas, to bring about positive community transformation that benefits young people between the ages of 11-18.

    ​

    Saints Central launched the busy and well-established Saints Student Lounge program in 2021 to support young people between the ages of 11-18 with access to a safe place to receive assisted study, eat and engage in fun educational workshops.

    ​

    We will expand our Student Lounge by aiming to meet young people who are currently not met by the local church by partnering with the local parish church, St Nicholas, during the term-time and the school holidays. 

    The main responsibilities of our Youth Workers are:

    • Supporting the Student Lounge project at Saints Central, including the discharge of administrative duties (including budget control, quality assurance, session planning and evaluation, record keeping, risk assessments, safeguarding and health and safety) in line with the funding agreements.

    • Work with St Nicholas Parish Church to connect young people with the church through Christian youth activities, school holiday programmes and focused projects, such as youth alpha and Christian social justice projects.

    • Develop positive, professional relationships with young people and make regular contact with them in order to identify and assess their social and informal educational needs.

    • Support a programme of activities, facilities and opportunities to meet social and informal education needs of young people.

    • Promote and encourage young people to plan and participate in activities to enable their empowerment, individually or collectively, and to take responsibility for, and control of, their own lives, signposting young people to other agencies who are based at Saints Central.

    • Maintaining quality of youth work in the session, ensuring the property is protected and behaviour policies are adhered to.

    • Work with the Youth Project Lead and St Nicholas Church to provide regular feedback on the project and its successes and difficulties.  

    • Attend and support staff planning meetings of the particular setting/programme/project and contribute so that effective programme planning, preparation and evaluation of youth work takes place.

    What we are looking for in a Youth Worker:

    • NVQ Level 2 in Youth Work, or be prepared to work towards a relevant youth work qualification

    • Relevant experience in assisting in the delivery of youth work

    • Knowledge of issues facing young people generally

    • Ability to form and sustain positive relationships with young people and staff members

    • Ability to plan (with others) and deliver a small-scale event/activity/workshop

    • Excellent communication skills

    • Creative and innovative

    • Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment

    • Have a desire to work with young people

    • Committed to safeguarding and Equality of Opportunity

    • Reliable

    • Willing to contribute to team working

    • Open minded, caring and enthusiastic

    Contractual Location is Saints Bar Pool, 52 Vernons Lane, Nuneaton, CV10 8AA

    We are looking for someone who can lead on the delivery of community support programmes and events whilst also supporting our high-quality café offer at our Saints Bar Pool project.

    ​

    This new Saints project on Vernons Lane, Bar Pool will provide a community-led warm welcome for local people to enjoy, access activities and courses and engage with various agencies and partners to tackle issues related to unemployment, training education and skills, income and crime.

    ​

    The main responsibilities of the Saints Bar Pool Café and Community Lead are:

    • Provide practical support to the Saints Bar Pool Café, ensuring all health and hygiene requirements are met, working alongside the Saints Bar Pool Centre Manager and Saints Bar Pool Café and Community Worker.

    • Be responsible for ensuring our value of welcome and excellent hospitality is upheld.

    • Lead on the running of community groups hosted in the centre across the week, working with the Café and Community Worker and Saints Bar Pool Centre Manager.

    • Lead the running of a community food programme, working with the Café and Community Worker and Saints Bar Pool Centre Manager.

    What we are looking for in a Saints Bar Pool Café and Community Lead:

    • Experience in assisting in the delivery of excellent catering and hospitality within a relevant customer-facing, high-pressured setting.

    • Recent involvement in working with the community.

    • Food preparation skills.

    • Ability to form and sustain positive relationships with staff, young people and volunteers in a busy environment.

    • Ability to work as part of a team, following instruction from managers.

    • Really wants to work in a hospitality and community setting.

    • Committed to the vision of the TFC charity and Saints Bar Pool project.

    • Supportive of the mission and ministry of the Church of England and the Diocese of Coventry mission purpose statement.

    This post reports to the Saints Bar Pool Centre Manager based at Saints Bar Pool.
